Terms & Conditions
1. STANDARD OPERATION
Chrystal is a pre-heating service, it turns the Snow Melting system on before it starts snowing in order to heat the outdoor surface to a temperature sufficient to melt snow as it falls. Chrystal will continue to give a signal throughout the period the snow is falling and will stop its signal once the snow has stopped. The local Snow Melting controller will then most likely fall into after-run period or drying period for the duration it is set for. Our recommendation in order to save energy would be to reduce this period to 1h.

2. ALGORITHM
On cold days, systems can preheat up to 20 hours in advance and as little as 1 hour on the mildest days. Not only is the outdoor temperature dictating the duration of the pre-heating period but so is the rate of snow expected to fall. The preheating profile follows specific guidelines that are constantly changing and evolving to optimize the system’s efficiency and its performance.

3. CONSUMPTION
Controlling energy consumption is a priority. Pre-heating durations are depicted by outdoor temperature as well as precipitation rates. The customer understands that energy consumptions can fluctuate from previous billing periods and any overages are not the responsibility of Chrystal.

4. MANUAL MODE
Chrystal gives the user the option of operating the control manually. Customers understand that when in manual mode, all weather predictions and preheating actions are ignored and the system will only turn on when the customer forces the system on or when the local sensor turns it on.

5. UPDATES
Customer gives permission for the Chrystal device to be updated remotely to receive the latest versions of the software and firmware. This will ensure that Chrystal will stay up to date and that the efficiency and performance of the system is constantly improving.

6. INSTALLATION
The installation will only be performed by a certified Snowmelting specialist or electrician. Unless the existing panel is equipped with its own 5V power supply, The Chrystal controller will be plugged into the closest outlet to the Snow Melting panel or controller. If the distance between the nearest outlet and the panel or controller is greater than 3ft, extra fees will be charged for wiring. The customer can always provide an extension cord to bring the power source closer to the panel. Wiring will be done superficially, unless the installer is made aware of easy cavities for fishing wires. Should the client request wiring behind the walls, a feasibility study needs to be done as well as extra fees will be billed for this extra work.

7. USERS
It is strongly recommended not to open more than one account with the save Device ID. Multiple users under different accounts can disturb the functionality of the MyChrystal service. Should the customer like to control the same Chrystal Device on multiple devices, the same account needs to be used.
8. WEATHER
Weather is constantly changing. Although the team behind Chrystal is continuously working on perfecting the algorithm and deflecting false weather events, such changes in the weather can affect the accuracy of the prediction algorithm and in turn Chrystal’s performance.
